Dryer Vent Cleaning Is No Luxury
When you use your dryer, the lint filter will not always catch all the lint. Typically the lint filter will catch around 75% of the lint that runs through the filter. This other 25% of the lint will accumulate on the walls of the vent. This lint will block some of the airflow coming from the dryer which will make your dryer less efficient and take longer to dry any of your loads. Over time the lint can build up until almost no air gets through the vent. This puts stress on your dryer and can be dangerous.
This blockage can heat up and catch fire very easily. Every year there are around 15,000 fires that start because of poor air flow through dryer vents. Lint is highly flammable and it just takes high heat or a spark to light it. combine that with a steady air supply (like that of a dryer pushing air through) and you could have a bad fire on your hands.
